| Description | Writing from Weymouth, Florence S. Millet remarks that many Christians had been 'shocked' by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's 'frivolous statements' in her radio broadcast. Providing her own interpretation of Jesus's life, she writes 'where madam do you get your authority for such statements as you made', commenting on the detrimental potential of Taylor Cadbury's address.
Please note that the signature on this letter is difficult to read and it is possible that the sender's surname may not be accurate.
A typed statement written by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury is attached to Millet's letter, in which Taylor Cadbury states that she was 'sorry' that Florence Millet did not have 'the happiness of a joyous appreciation of the Lord Jesus Christ'. Taylor Cadbury remarks on the 'enormous number of letters and messages' she had received expressing gratitude for her address. She suggests that these letters proved that her interpretation of Jesus Christ had been 'attractive to the young' and those 'repelled by the gloomy presentation of religion'. |
