| Description | This short article which was sent to the press by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury provides an overview of her Presidential Address to the National Free Church Council entitled 'Adventures in Friendship'. In this overview Taylor Cadbury emphasises the importance of a growth in understanding and friendship between Nonconformist churches to support practical co-operation. She suggests that the basis of such friendship was 'the possession of a common aim' that 'the presentation to the world of the Gospel of Jesus Christ' through effective teaching and application would serve to 'solve modern problems'.
Taylor Cadbury also refers to the Free Church Council's practical work, emphasising the need to address 'the appalling lack of houses, and the degrading conditions of the slums', as well as the problems of alcohol and military armament. She also refers specifically to the 'need for a Christian crusade on behalf of International Peace and Friendship'. |
