DescriptionThomas Robinson Ferens wrote to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury following her decision to stand for election as the Liberal Party Member of Parliament for the Kings Norton Ward. Writing from his home, Holderness House in Hull, Ferens remarks that he was 'much interested' to hear that Taylor Cadbury was standing for election. Assuring Taylor Cadbury of her victory, Ferens concludes 'it is very good of you to have consented to stand.'

AdminHistoryBusinessman and philanthropist Thomas Robinson Ferens (1827-1930) shared many philanthropic and educational interests with Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury, participating in Sunday School teaching and donating money to support hospitals and schools and funding university scholarships. The works manager, director and later Chairman of the Hull based Quaker manufacturing firm Reckitts, Ferens was involved in the development of Reckitts Garden Village in 1907. In 1906 Ferens was elected the Liberal Party Member of Parliament for Hull, a seat which he held until 1918.
