TitleLetter from Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury to Mrs. Jai Kishori Handoo
LevelItem
Date09 June 1945
DescriptionIn response to Mrs. Kishori Handoo's letter, Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury writes that she had given much consideration to the matter of 'trying to influence public opinion on Indian affairs'. Taylor Cadbury suggests that in the weeks leading up to the forthcoming General Election people would be concerned with 'Home affairs' such as housing, demobilisation and employment, as well as 'the Peace settlement', adding that it was unlikely that Indian affairs would be discussed. Referring to political legislation regarding the situation in India, Taylor Cadbury concludes that it would 'serve no useful purpose' to attempt to interest people 'in a policy for India' at the present time.

A second typed draft copy of Taylor Cadbury's letter with pencil annotations features alongside this final version.
