| Description | Olive Shepherd from the India Committee of the Friends' Service Council wrote to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury in July 1943 thanking Taylor Cadbury for her letter of greeting and remarking on the progress of an Indian student called Mary Singh. Shepherd also refers to difficulties obtaining government ration cards for rice, sugar and oil. It is possible that Mary Singh was one of the students who benefitted from the scholarship which Taylor Cadbury donated to the Friends' School in Sohagpur allowing female students to continue their education at the Central College for Women at Nagpur. |
