DescriptionThis newcutting contains extracts from an interview given by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury in which she described her impressions of India and the World Congress of the International Council of Women. In her interview Taylor Cadbury remarked on the amount of 'social work' being undertaken in India to support the poor and unemployed, provide education, solve housing problems and improve health. The extracts featured in the newscutting reveal that Taylor Cadbury also referred to the methods of social reform discussed at the conference including the medical inspection of school children.

Commenting on the number of women willing to participate in 'social work', Taylor Cadbury remarked on the University of Birmingham's Diploma in Social Work and the importance of 'knowledge, wisdom and experience'. The report states that she concluded her interview by suggesting that 'the most important reform at the moment in India is to spread education' which would contribute towards the improvement of 'mental, physical and sanitary conditions'.
