DescriptionThis short letter begins with family news about Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's siblings relating to correspondence which they had sent to her. Taylor Cadbury remarks on difficulties which she was having with the Cadbury family's French Governess who she describes as 'alternately angry and sulky'. Taylor Cadbury writes that she was convinced the woman 'was not a suitable instructress for children'.

Taylor Cadbury remarks that she had been Christmas shopping with her daughters and attended a meeting of the Friends' Reading Society. She adds that the previous Sunday she had received a visit from the 'bright and enthusiastic' headmistress of Bournville's temporary school for girls and infants. Taylor Cadbury writes 'when the boys' school is started we expect her husband will be head master of that'.

Christmas was an extremely busy time for Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury with a wide variety of social and professional commitments before the end of the year. In this letter she refers to her closing meeting at the Severn Street Adult School and a party for elderly people which had been held at Northfield. Taylor Cadbury concludes her letter writing 'Christmas preparations take a great deal of time, and I am very busy with them.'
