DescriptionThis section contains letters exchanged between Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury and her parents, grandmother, siblings and cousins between 1879 and 1896. The majority of the letters featured here were written during the 1880s before Elizabeth Taylor's marriage to George Cadbury in 1888. The section also includes correspondence between Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury and her father John Taylor which provides an insight into her early experiences of married life as a mother and philanthropist living in Selly Oak during the 1890s. Letters written by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury to her grandmother Elizabeth Pettifer Lucas Cash are also contained within this section featuring comments about Taylor Cadbury's involvement with the Peckham Friends' First-Day School and her marriage. In addition correspondence written by Taylor Cadbury's elder sister Margaret Taylor, her younger brother Edwin Claude Taylor and her cousin William Reed is included in this section which also features a large number of letters sent to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury by her mother Mary Jane Taylor between 1879 and 1888. These letters contain a wealth of material relating to the Taylors' family life, particularly their participation in Quaker philanthropic work during the late nineteenth century.
