| Description | This section contains a collection of Christmas and New Year's cards dating from the 1880s to 1950. These include a number of cards sent to Elizabeth Taylor before her marriage to George Cadbury in 1888. However, the majority are copies of cards which were distributed by Elizabeth and George Cadbury and by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury herself following her husband's death in 1922. Many of the cards feature photographs of the Cadbury family home, the Manor House in Northfield, a number of which were taken by the photographer Morland Braithwaite. Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury also features in some of these images.
Many of the cards are undated and have been given a date range which corresponds with the identity of the sender. For example, if the cards were sent by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury alone then they have been dated as 1922 or after, following George Cadbury's death. Cards sent by both George and Elizabeth Cadbury have been dated to correspond with other dated cards in the collection. |
