| Description | This section contains a number of letters sent to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury by her nephew Howard Taylor and her niece Peggy Sinclair (nee Taylor) who became Peggy Duncan on her second marriage in March 1950. Elizabeth Margaret Taylor, known as Peggy, and her brother Howard were the children of Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's youngest brother John Augustine Taylor (born 1873). Howard Taylor's letters refer mainly to his visits to stay with Taylor Cadbury at the Manor House in Northfield and provide accounts of his work in South Africa. Peggy Taylor's first marriage was to David Bowie Sinclair who served in the Bechuanaland Protectorate Administrative Service. She married again in 1950 becoming Peggy Duncan. Her letters, two of which are illustrated with photographs, relate to her life in South Africa and her second marriage to Mr. R. S. Duncan. These letters provide an insight into the life of Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's extended family and her important role as the central figure within this wide family circle. |
