DescriptionIn this poignant letter, Jones writes that he and his wife Elizabeth Jones had returned to Ardonia where Lowell had died, describing how 'all the reality of the loss' had overwhelmed him and adding 'before I had half believed it must be only a bad dream.' He provides an account of his son's death and funeral and writes that the family were staying with friends.

Rufus Jones also refers to the opening of Woodbrooke, writing that he would be 'anxious to hear how the settlement progresses from week to week'. He concludes his letter remarking 'how deeply' he and his wife Elizabeth had appreciated Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's sympathy and kindness.
