| Description | In this letter George Cadbury writes that he, Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury and their children, had recently returned from holidaying in Boscombe. He provides a brief description of the holiday, remarking on the ill health of Jeanne Leroy, the children's nurse. George Cadbury also comments on visits to the New Forest and Poole Harbour before remarking on forthcoming family plans including details of Christmas celebrations. He adds that John Henry Barlow, the husband of Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's cousin Mabel Cash Barlow, was 'coming to take charge of the Bournville estate' in February 1901. Remarking on Barlow's appointment he writes:
'It is a great relief to us that he is willing to do this, he is so clever and a good financier and very much interested in all schemes for raising the people'.
A pencil annotation is featured at the bottom of this letter which appears to have been added by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury. |
