| Description | This section contains a small collection of letters written in the form of a holiday journal which were sent home by Elizabeth and George Cadbury to their elder children whilst they stayed in Biarritz with their youngest children during September and October 1902. The letters, written both individually and jointly by the Cadburys, provide an account of the family's activities in Biarritz and their perceptions of the luxurious lifestyle enjoyed by the wealthy people staying at the Hotel du Palais. After beginning their stay at this Hotel, the Cadbury family moved to the quieter Chateau des Falaises on the other side of Biarritz where they enjoyed bathing, moonlight walks and a number of excursions to places including Pau and Lourdes. |
