| Title | Typescript of 'The Manor House' by Ethel Impey |
| Level | Item |
| Date | 03 November 1949 |
| Description | This typescript is a copy of a paper which Ethel Impey wrote about the history of the Manor House in 1949. Impey's paper states that Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's home had no connection with the site of an ancient Manor House and refers to the Manorial Courts for Weoley and Northfield in the early Middle Ages. Impey also describes Newhouse Farm which was built on the site in 1750 before providing a brief chronological history of the house's development between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries. Impey suggests that the Adkins family had purchased the house in 1868 and had made alterations to the property before selling it to the Cadburys in 1894. The final page of the paper provides references for the information included in Impey's paper. |
