| AdminHistory | Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's personal diary records that the Parents' National Education Union (P.N.E.U.) Conference held in Birmingham during November 1909 began on Monday 15th November 1909 and ran until Friday 19th November 1909. Both Taylor Cadbury and her step-daughter Eleanor Cadbury were involved in the conference proceedings. Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury presided over this conference, delivering an address and inviting delegates to stay at her home, the Manor House in Northfield, for the duration of the conference. Taylor Cadbury wrote in her family journal letter dated 17th November 1909 that Lady Nina Campbell, the wife of 'a very conservative Baronet and Colonel in the Army' and her twenty one year old daughter Sylvia were amongst the party staying at the Manor House. The Campbells and other conference delegates were also given a tour of the Cadbury Works and Bournville village during the conference which also featured a number of evening talks including a lecture delivered by Taylor Cadbury's close friend Sir Oliver Lodge (1851-1940), Principal of the University of Birmingham, entitled 'Parents and Children'. |
