DescriptionIn this letter Mary Jane Taylor apologises for concerning Elizabeth with the 'ill-news' contained in her last letter relating to the Taylor family's business difficulties. She writes that Elizabeth's father John Taylor believed that a new partnership would ensure recovery from his financial concerns. Comments in the letter suggest that Elizabeth Taylor had proposed undertaking paid teaching work which her parents were reluctant about, Mary Taylor advising her daughter to look about for a better paid opportunity teaching girls in their familys' homes. She also provides an account of recent family news including the activities of Elizabeth's elder sister Margaret who had been spending time with Elizabeth's friend Lily Davey.
