| Description | This file contains a number of decorative letters which were sent to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday by girls and boys in Class Six of Bournville Infant School. Each of the letters features the same text, indicating that it may have been written down by a teacher for the children to copy. The letters are decorated with a cardboard shape of a girl presenting flowers which the children coloured with crayons.
The birthday letters wish Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury 'a very very Happy Birthday' and state that on the morning of Elizabeth's birthday all the children at the school 'clapped ninety times' and 'sang a Special Birthday song'. The file contains letters from girls named Jean Hipkiss, Pamela Hamilton, Janet Bartlam, Eva Wallin, Moyra Rennie, Jean Brookes, Peggy Broomfield, Janet Foster, Margaret Wilby, Vera Brooking, Christine Penn, Pat Husler, Gillian Berry, Maureen Mitchell and Bernice Poulter. Letters were also sent by boys named Michael Bunn, Ian Roy Hattersley and a boy who has signed his name as Michael. The names of the children who sent letters to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury also feature in the commemorative book of autographs which staff and pupils associated with the schools in Bournville sent to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury to mark her ninetieth Birthday. |
