| AdminHistory | From 1902 onwards Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury was closely involved with the development of school facilities for children living in Bournville. Following the transfer of the village's Ruskin memorial building, Ruskin Hall, to the Bournville Village Trust, Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury used her position as a Bournville Village Trustee to support plans to use the Hall to provide temporary accommodation for an infant school in the village. Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury also played a leading role in negotiations with the Local Education Committee and national Board of Education to establish permanent schools in Bournville. Her efforts culminated in the founding of Bournville Elementary (Junior) School which opened in 1906, followed by a permanent Infant School in 1910. Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury oversaw the management of these schools, responsible for appointing staff and participating in teaching. She remained closely associated with the village schools throughout her life, holding annual Christmas parties for the children and also took a keen interest in the development of the Bournville Day Continuation School during the early twentieth century. |
