| Description | This invitation requests Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's presence at the 'Service of Commemoration' being held at St. Paul's Cathedral at 5.30pm on Friday 31st March 1950 which would include a sermon preached by Dr. Fisher, the Archbishop of Canterbury. The invitation states that the service was being held 'in commemoration of the centenary anniversary of the foundation of North London Collegiate School by Frances Mary Buss, and in thanksgiving for the century of progress in the education of women.'
An annotation in the top right hand corner of the invitation reveals that Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury declined to attend the service, replying with regret on 17th March 1950. However, newspaper cuttings relating to the event suggest that she did attend and was present throughout the service. |
