TitleLetter from the Secretary of the West Birmingham Friends' Halls to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury
LevelItem
Date07 September 1937
DescriptionElizabeth Taylor Cadbury wrote to the Secretary of the West Birmingham Friends' Halls which included the village institutes and meeting houses in Northfield, Selly Oak and Kings Norton, in August 1937, enquiring about the history of the Religious Society of Friends in the district during the late nineteenth century. In this letter the Secretary of the Halls apologises for being unable to provide Taylor Cadbury with any information about 'the Bournville branch of the Society of Friends', noting that records relating to the Christian Society were 'very meagre indeed'. The Secretary also suggests that there were no records relating to the Northfield and Selly Oak village institutes which had been built by Taylor Cadbury's husband George Cadbury between 1892 and 1894.

Please note that the signature on this letter does provide the name of the Secretary, however, it is difficult to read and has therefore been omitted here to avoid confusion.
