| Description | These letters date from a period before the couple's engagement where Emmeline is addressing William as her cousin, continuing through a period of hidden/secret engagement when her parents knew but insisted it was not to be announced until Emmeline was 18, then the period of the engagement and their married life. Enclosed with many of the letters are photographs, cards and notes written by the children that have not been separated as they originated with this material.
There is a set of correspondence from 1926 regarding a journey to Kitzbuhel Children's Home in Tyrol. The home was sponsored by Birmingham: William and Emmeline Hannah Cadbury became involved as politicians, Mayor and Mayoress and through the roles undertaken by Emmeline in women's societies. |
