| Description | Three black and white photographs of a testimonial mounted together on one backing sheet. This testimonial was presented to George Cadbury and Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury by Bournville residents to commemorate the opening of Bournville Elementary School in 1906. George and Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury founded both the elementary and infants schools in Bournville between 1904 and 1910.
The top left photograph features the front page of a decorative illuminated testimonial presented to George and Elizabeth Cadbury by 'the householders of Bournville' thanking them for the schools which they had 'generously presented' to the village.
The top right photograph features the second page of the testimonial which states that the schools reflected George and Elizabeth Cadbury's 'profound interest' in the 'welfare of Bournville and its inhabitants'. The testimonial records that the residents of Bournville regarded the schools as 'a priceless possession' and describes the work of the schools as providing 'the training of the children of Bournville for their future duties as citizens of this great nation'.
The photograph at the bottom of the backing sheet displays the signatures of people who signed the testimonial. |
