What is in the on-line catalogue?
This online catalogue does not contain a complete listing of all our holdings. If you can't find what you are looking for, please contact us directly, as it may be that the catalogue you are interested in is only available as a paper catalogue in our searchroom.
Our holdings consist broadly of the following types of collections:
Religious records including Anglican, Non-Conformist and Jewish records
Official Records such as those of Birmingham City Council, Urban District Councils, Schools, Civil Parishes, and Guardians of the Poor etc.
Public Records including Coroner's inquests, Hospital records, Probate records, Quarter Sessions and Petty Sessions records etc.
Deposited Records such as estate papers, legal papers, deeds, manorial records, records of clubs, societies and charities, personal papers, letters and diaries, maps and plans, drawings and watercolours, prints and engravings, photographic collections, and oral history recordings.

Some of the online catalogues are complete, while others will consist of a collection level description (see 'Glossary') with a PDF of the paper catalogue, that is, a digital reproduction of the catalogue available in the searchroom.
